I have gotten a couple of messages and been tagged in a couple of Facebook posts this week by people who say that I have inspired them to start doing something about their own health/weight issues. I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. Once I admitted that this challenge was one I had to face, I realized that I had the opportunity to do it in a way that might help others too. I need the accountability of doing it right out in front of everyone. Too many times I have secretly tried to make some changes and lose the weight, only to give up a few weeks later. I never asked for help and I never told anyone what I was doing. That way when I gave up no one would know. Except me. I ALWAYS knew, and it hammered my self-esteem and self-worth every time I failed.
By using this blog, Facebook, Twitter and MyFitnessPal to track everything I am putting it out there for everyone to see. Now they you all know, my ego won’t let me quit. I guess that’s the proper use of the ego. None of us are getting any younger, and none of us can afford to live with things that we know need to be addressed – not if we want to live life to its fullest. I have no idea what your challenges are today, but this is mine and I want to do what I can to address it.
I am really seeing some changes in my core thanks to the wonderful folks at Redbird Pilates. My entire torso is getting smaller and tighter, trading fat for muscle and dropping inches along the way. I am baffled at the lack of actual weight loss, but I have lost another .5 inch in my waist, belly and chest since August 1st. I just finished the first session of classes and I have signed up again, which will carry me through the end of the year. I am going to try out a High-Intensity Interval Training class next week, and they are starting a new Reformer series in a couple of weeks (check out the announcement here) and I am hoping to be able to join that as well. The apparatus class I have been in has been awesome and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next (and if I can do it). I am building strength and flexibility in places I have never even worked on before, and it feels pretty great.
I need to take some more pictures for you guys… I’m going to try and get that done this weekend.
