I find myself at a weird place in my journey. I am really comfortable with the changes I have made in diet and exercise. They all feel completely sustainable (which is the goal), BUT – they are not moving me forward towards my goal. I’m not sure what to do about that.
My exercise regimen is going really well right now. I am doing an apparatus class and a Pilates mat class at Redbird every week, and Elisabeth and Lee are overseeing the cardio and other workouts I am doing at the gym so that they all complement each other. I’m started going to the gym at lunch again, doing about 15 minutes of squats, kettle bell swings, etc… to warm up and then 30-35 minutes of cardio on the elliptical, with a little sauna and foam rolling to cool down. I’m also back to walking a mile in the mornings now that it’s started to cool off a little. I’m doing at least 30 minutes of heart rate raising exercise every single day, and I feel better for it. I’m not sure what I could be doing differently, given the time I have to spend.
My diet is pretty solid as well. I am eating between 1700-2000 calories a day on a modified Paleo food plan. I enjoy the food I’m eating and the quantity seems just about right. And yet, I am completely stagnant weight loss-wise and I’m not sure where to go with that. Maybe it’s time to do something UN-sustainable for a while. The idea of cutting more out of my diet is not pleasant, but neither is staying where I am. The real drag is that I can’t for the life of me find a professional to help guide me through this, so I am stuck trying to figure it out on my own. Never a good idea for a guy like me.
I am still eating right, I exercise every day, and the Pilates at Redbird continues to make a difference in my physical condition, my strength and my awareness. I’m doing damn near everything right and I haven’t lost a pound. For months. I’m just not sure where to go with that. So I’m coming to you guys.
What have you (or someone you know) done to lose a significant amount of weight? Special doctor? Weight Loss clinic? Atkins? Did it work? Did you keep it off? Help a brother out.
