Well, I’m pluggin’ right along. Today is Day 4 of my fast & things are going pretty well with that. I’ve dropped a little bit of weight, and I’m hoping that will continue as I began to add food back in. I will probably start eating again either tomorrow afternoon or Sunday… I think to begin with, I’m going to try and limit my intake to about 1200-1300 calories a day for the first week and see what that does. I’ll be doing a little bit of research to figure out what the best recipes are, and what the best protean/carb/fat ratio will be. Fasting is not sustainable, but it is a good way to sort of reset things. It’s allowing me to reassess what I’ve been eating and think about what changes I can make, gradually adding them back slowly.as I begin to eat again. That way the food feels like a treat instead of feeling deprived by the reduction in calories.. It may be a trick, but I’ll take it.
I actually did three workouts yesterday. I did my mile walk in the morning, I went to the gym and hammered out about 700 calories worth of cardio, and then I went and did a duet class at Redbird. Saying that I didn’t know that there were machines involved in Pilates is ridiculous, because I don’t know anything about Pilates at all. Apparently there are machines involved in Pilates. Working on the machines is designed to help you get a better understanding of what muscles we are trying to engage during the standard Pilates mat classes. Each movement is done with the proper form, and that allows you to feel, the muscle the movement is aiming for. My heart rate stayed pretty low during the whole thing and I didn’t burn very many calories, but it wore me out nonetheless…. My major muscles are pretty strong but those aren’t the ones that were working.
I got a couple of videos from the Primal 7 training demo that we did last Tuesday, and I’m going to post them here. It’s a pretty cool deal and I’m really looking forward to getting started with it. Saturday is my first real Pilates class and I’m going to take some pictures of that as well… I was talking to a friend yesterday and he commented “So, 20 years ago when you were rocking out, did you ever in your wildest dreams think that one day you would be fasting and doing Pilates?” The answer is a resounding “NO”… Of course, my life is FULL of wonderful things that I either never suspected I’d be doing or gave up on, which is pretty cool…..
I actually find myself enjoying the new level of intensity that I’m bringing to the whole fitness and weight loss thing. It’s exhausting, and I’m hungry, but I kinda like being this guy. I’ve upped my commitment level, and I’m hoping that I will see the results of that fairly soon. I could certainly use some outward signs of my inward progress.
