Monday… another week down… I am at 287 lbs. That’s 41 pounds since 1/1/2014.
Last week beat the hell out of me. I increased the intensity and number of workouts each day, and I fasted from Monday – Friday. By Saturday I had managed to lose 7 pounds, finally pushing below the plateau I have been stuck on for a month, but the process beat the hell out of me. I did the best I could to keep protein in my diet while I was fasting, drinking a protein shake every day, but by day 5 I could tell that my muscles were not repairing themselves anymore, so I stopped the fast. I am glad I did it, and I believe that I am continuing to lose weight because of it. Now that I am eating again I am trying to keep my calorie intake around 1400-1500 calories a day. That’s 300-400 less than I was eating before the fast. I am also working to up my daily burn to around 1100-1200. That will require an additional evening session on the bike most days – essentially a third workout each day, time permitting. I am determined to continue the progress that the fast started for me, and I’m hoping that this will do it.
I wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the support I got around my first Pilates class. I can’t believe I’m still sore from that 75 minute workout on Saturday, but I am. I’ve never been much of a joiner, and I can find a way to feel separate from and left out in a room full of friends, so going and doing something like that is a challenge. The combination of your support and the wonderful folks at RedBird made it just barely do-able, so thanks to all of you for that. Now that I have the first class under my belt, I am looking forward to the next one. Sometimes all it takes is one small bit of willingness and 20 seconds of courage to open up a whole new area of experience.
